Augusta Volleyball Set to Open Season Aug 26

AUGUSTA, Ga- Defending Southeast Regional Champion Augusta Volleyball looks to continue its success in the upcoming season.

"Coming off of a historic 2021 volleyball season and reaching the Elite 8, the energy is still in the air," said Head Coach Sharon Quarles. "Although we graduated seven, we brought in a dynamic group of nine new faces.  Preseason is off to a great start. The excitement, competitiveness, and cohesiveness is the best way to describe Christenberry Fieldhouse these days. The Jaguars are looking forward to the season and all that it will bring.  We are ready for Jaguar Nation to join us on this journey!"

The season kicks off in Florida on August 26-27, with three matches over two days at the Florida Southern Tournament. The Jaguars will then then take the short trek across the Savannah River to take part in the Pacer Invitational Sept 2-3. There, Augusta will take on North Greenville and Francis Marion on Friday and Auburn Montgomery and Mount Olive on Saturday.

Augusta will play its final preseason tournament Sept 9-10 in Carrollton, Ga in the PBC/Gulf South Crossover. AU makes its home debut Sept 13th when they play host to Shorter University.

The team heads back on the road to take on Flagler Sept 16 and 17 in its first Peach Belt Conference game. The Jags take on Georgia College and USC Aiken at home before closing out the month of Sept against Lander.

The next five contests for volleyball are PBC games. Oct 21-22, Augusta will step back from its conference schedule to participate in the PBC/SAC Crossover. AU is slated to face Carson-Newman, Lincoln Memorial, and Mars Hill during the weekend.

The Jaguars will close the regular season with a 3-gmae home stand, concluding with a double-header against Young Harris on Nov 5.
