The Jaguars were led by
Kennedi Manning's 14 points.
Kiera Howard turned in a double-double, carding 11 points and leading the rebounding effort with 14.
Mone Florence was also in double figures with 10 points.
Tomiyah Alford and
Autumn Phillips added 9 points and 7 points respectively.
Anne Seacrest as the only Lander player in double-figures.
While the Bearcats struck first, a layup by
Autumn Phillips opened scoring and helped propel the Jaguars to an 8 point lead with 4:10 left in the first quarter. Lander was able to work its way back in, closing the second quarter on a 6-0 scoring run. Both teams traded baskets in the second quarter. A three pointer from Lander's Jakiyah Parker with 30 seconds left in the half sent Augusta to the locker room with a 26-23 lead.
The third quarter remained close. A jumper from Manning gave AU its largest six point lead of the period. A three pointer by Alford started the fourth quarter.Two free throws by
Kiera Howard extended the Jaguar lead to seven. A final free throw by
Tomiyah Alford with two seconds left in the game sealed the 60-54 victory.
