Augusta pounced on the home team early, scoring 17 points in the first quarter while limiting the Bobcats to only six points. Georgia College would immediately answer in the second quarter, opening the stanza with a 6-0 run. Aided by a five minute AU scoring drought, Georgia College would continue to chip away, cutting the lead to 21-19 at halftime.
A made jump shot by Vick Harper tied the contest 22-22 with a little over a minute in the second half. Both teams traded baskets and traded the lead in the third quarter. A three-pointer by
Yamani Paul gave the Jaguars a two point lead with 7:03 left in the fourth quarter. A layup by
Kiera Howard and a jumper from
Autumn Phillips extended the Augusta lead to six. The shooting struggles continued for both teams and Georgia College was forced to foul to extend the game. The Jaguars would narrowly survive and notched a 47-41 conference victory.
For the second game in a row,
Tomiyah Alford led in scoring for Augusta, carding 16 points and 3 rebounds.
Kiera Howard had 9 points and 5 rebounds and
Yamani Paul had 8 points and 4 rebounds.
Autumn Phillips led the rebounding effort with 9 for game.
