The Mountain Lions and the visiting Jaguars traded buckets in the first quarter with each team only carding 9 points in period. To open the second quarter,
Autumn Phillips dished the ball to
Kennedi Manning, sparking a 13-0 scoring run for Augusta. Down 22-9, the home team would answer with a 9-2 run of its own. A three-pointer by JaMari Frederick shrunk the Augusta lead to 24-18 at halftime.
A layup by the home team ten seconds into the third quarter opened the scoring in the second half.
Kennedi Manning was fouled making a layup, subsequently making her free-throw and extending the lead back to 7 points. Young Harris was able close the gap to 27-24. Turnovers plagued the home team for the rest of the game. The Jaguars would capitalize, going on a 16-4 run to start the fourth quarter. AU would win 60-47 in the PBC Saturday matchup.
Balanced offense by Augusta pushed the team to victory. Manning led with 14 points and 8 rebounds while
Mone Florence and
Kiera Howard each scored 12 points. Howard was equally impressive on the offensive and defensive ends. The senior, who surpassed 1,000 career points last week, was 5-of-5 from the field and snagged a season-high five steals.
