Box Score   AUGUSTA, Ga - The Augusta University men's basketball team defeated the visiting Claflin Panthers 76-65 at home on Tuesday evening. The win marked the 1,000^th win in August men's basketball program history.  Augusta improves to 3-2 with the victory while Claflin moves to 2-1 for the year.

The Jags used an even offense in the first half to create an 11-point lead heading into halftime. AU shot 57.1% from the field. Zyere Edwards used three triples to pace Augusta with nine points in the period while David Viti and Max Amadasun added eight points each. Demitri Gardner chipped in seven points in the half.  

Augusta opened the second half on an 8-3 scoring run, sparked by another triple from Edwards. AU led by as many as 15 points in the stanza. Claflin went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to eight points with 11 minutes left to play. Augusta kept a comfortable lead through the latter part of the game. Two made free throws from John St. Germain III with just over three minutes to play extended the Jaguar lead to 67-53.  AU held on to win 76-65.

Amadasun led scoring with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Viti was 5-for-8 from the field to score 15 points. Freshman Zyere Edwards was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc for 14 points. Gardner and St. Germain III also carded double-figure scoring.
