AUGUSTA, Ga – The No. 24 Augusta University women's basketball fell 83-76 to No.14 Anderson Wednesday evening. Augusta is now 4-1 while Anderson improves to 6-1. Augusta returns to play on Saturday when they host Fayetteville State.

Anderson got off to a quick start, opening scoring with a 6-0 run. AU would quickly minimize that lead. The first quarter was a back-and-fourth battle, with neither team leading by more than four points. A huge second quarter for Augusta saw the Jags outscore Anderson 22-10. A triple from Autumn Anderson at the buzzer put Augusta up 41-33 headed into halftime.
The Trojans worked their way back into the game, using a made three-pointer to take a one-point lead with 3:22 left to play in the third quarter. Anderson would use another triple from Diamond McDowell early in the third quarter to extend the lead to nine. Augusta would shrink the lead to two, but fell 82-76.
Kennedi Manning was 11-for-16 from the field to lead Augusta with 25 points and eight rebounds.
Autumn Phillips added 20 points and two steals.
Tomiyah Alford registered 14 points and six rebounds. Graduate student
Kalen Surles dished six assists.
Anderson was led by Nelliah Anderson's 22 points.
