AIKEN, SC- The Augusta University women's volleyball team extended its win streak to nine with a dominant 3-0 sweep in Aiken on Saturday afternoon. The Jaguars are set for a pivotal conference matchup against Lander at home on Thursday, Nov 9.
The Jaguars are now 23-4, 9-1 in conference while USC Aiken is 15-9, 3-8 inside conference play.
Offensively,
Jazmyn Wheeler did the heavy lifting, notching 15 kills on just 28 swings for a .464 hitting percentage. The senior also registered 7 digs.
Savannah Davis also turned in her second consecutive solid performance with nine kills and 3 blocks.
Sophia Kruczko tallied 6 kills to match Kaylie Cleaver's kill count for the afternoon.
Defensively,
Madelyn Eden was a force in the front row, earning five total blocks for the match. Libero
Dariana Luna collected 19 digs and defender
Rylie Harris added 12.
Setter
Janvier Buggs dished a match-high 30 assists.
Thursday night's match against Lander is the most pivotal and highly-anticipated match of the year. Augusta (23-4, 9-1) and Lander (26-3, 10-0) are the top two teams in the PBC. The results of the next two games will determine the host for the 2023 Peach Belt Conference Tournament and as well as having serious implications for NCAA regional rankings.
