AUGUSTA, Ga - The Augusta University men's basketball team defeated Emmanuel 78-74 at home on Tuesday evening. The win extended Augusta's win streak to five. The Jags are now 7-2 while Emmanuel moves to 9-4 for the season. The two teams will have a rematch on Monday Dec. 1 in Franklin Springs.

The battle between two teams ranked in the Southeast Region featured 15 lead changes and 11 ties. Offensive rebounding proved pivotal for the Jaguars – AU scored 21 second chance points off of 12 offensive rebounds.

David Viti led Augusta with a season-high 23 points. Eleven of those points came from the free-throw line. Maxamillian Amadasun carded his seventh double-double of the season. He scored 18 points and 10 rebounds in his 35 minutes on the court. Ja'Quze Kirby followed suit with a 12 point-10 rebound double-double of his own. Guard

Zyere Edwards dished four assists and snagged four steal.
Neither team led by more than six points. The visiting Lions held a narrow two-point lead at the half. Emmanuel extended that lead to six before back-to-back layups from Viti brought the score to 42-40 with just over 17 minutes to play.
A layup from Amadasun gave AU its first lead of the half. A timely dunk from Viti gave Augusta a three-point lead with eight minutes left in the game. The two teams traded buckets until two made field goals from Gardener and Amadasun gave Augusta a five-point lead with just over a minute left, A made triple from Emmanuel's Chris Dees cut the lead to three, but two made free throws from Gardner cemented the victory for Augusta.
Emmanuel was led by Kelvin Jones (21 points) and Chris Dees (19 points).
