AUGUSTA, Ga –
Tyshaun Crawford's career-high 35 points helped the No. 14 Jaguars defeat Georgia College 86-61 in the annual Military Appreciation Day Game. The game served to honor and welcome members of the United States Armed Forces.
Augusta University ROTC Color Presented the Colors for the women's basketball game while the Fort Gordon Joint Color Guard Team Presented the Colors for the men's game.
During halftime of the men's game, Sergeant Major Stephen P. Alexander led the attending military in the Soldier's Creed. Sergeant Major Alexander is currently the Senior Enlisted Leader Cyber CDID, Cyber Capability Development Integration Directorate, within the US Army Cyber Center of Excellence.
Following the Soldier's Creed, a special swearing in ceremony was conducted for incoming recruits. Representing Fort Gordon, Colonel Christian A. Haffey swore in the recruits. Colonel Haffey is currently the Director of Cyber Capability Development Integration Directorate having recently served as the Director of Army Capability Manager (ACM) for Tactical Radios (TR) and ACM for Networks and Services (N&S) within the US Army Cyber Center of Excellence. Recruits families were invited to join them on the court for the ceremony.
The Jaguars also welcomed back Operation Teammate, Augusta University Military Science, ROTC, and the Military & Veterans Services department here at Augusta University to be a part of the celebration.

With the win, Augusta improves to 19-3, 10-2 PBC while Georgia College falls to 7-14, 3-9 PBC.

Demitri Gardner got the start for Augusta, scoring 6 points in the opening minutes to help Augusta build a 17-7 lead over Georgia College with 14:25 left in the first half. Freshman
Chris Britt subbed in and provided an offensive spark for AU, scoring five straight points off the bench.
Augusta's offense was comfortable for the entire game, heading into the locker room with a 54-27 lead over the Bobcats. AU would lead by as many as 32 points in the first half, shooting over 50 percent from the field for the entire game. The Jaguars would lead by at least 20 points the rest of the way, capturing an 86-61 victory to remain atop the Peach Belt Conference.
