Two Patterson Homers Lift Softball to Twin Bill Split

AUGUSTA, Ga -- The Augusta University softball team fell 3-1 to the visiting Erskine College Flying Fleet before winning game 2 10-0 in five innings.  Augusta is now 12-7 while Erskine moves to 7-4.

  • Both teams were scoreless until Erskine carded 2 runs off a home run in the sixth inning.
  • Erskine would tack on its final run in the top of the seventh inning off a double.
  • After a Bailee Roberts single in the bottom of the seventh, Lauren Evens doubled to left center field to score Roberts for Augusta's single run of the game.
  •  Alissa Bolinger (6-3) started on the mound for AU, tossing 6.2 innings. Bolinger struck out 4 batters and allowed 9 hits for 3 runs.

  • Augusta collected 11 hits while holding Erskine to a single hit in the contest
  • Grace Bridges was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI while Bailee Roberts was 3-for-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI
  • Paige Patterson was 2-for-3 with 2 runs with 5 RBI – Patterson would homer twice in the game
  • Up 5-0 through two innings, Augusta turned in a monster fourth inning. After scoring on an error by the pitcher, Patterson hit a 2 RBI homer followed by a solo homer from Roberts. To close the game in the fifth inning, Macy Poisal reached on a fielders choice that scored Neveah Ross for the 10-0 victory.
  • Ansley Gibson pitched the first four innings for Augusta, striking out two and allowing a single hit. Maggie McBrayer pitched the final inning for Augusta.
