AUGUSTA, Ga– The Augusta University baseball team hosted Francis Marion in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon at Jaguar Field. With the 4-3 win, Augusta improves to 12-13 for the season.
Logan Howell got the start on the rubber for AU, pitching 2.2 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 run, 2 batters.
Britt Kelly (1-5) picked up the win for Augusta, allowing no hits and no runs in his 5.1 innings of work.
Jasper Dubberly closed the game and picked up the save for the Jags.
Francis Marion opened scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. The Jags would answer in the bottom the inning. After two walks,
Kyle Lodise grounded out to second base, pushing
Gavin Wright home in for the score.
Francis Marion blasted a home run in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Back-to-back solo homer runs from
Parker Ingram and
Kyle LaRoche turned the tide for the Jaguars, giving Augusta a 3-2 lead over the Patriots in the seventh inning.
Coming in to pinch hit for
Jared Martin,
Pat Galvin singled to right field before stealing second.
Gavin Wright would fly out to right field to close the inning.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Jags added an insurance run off a
Jordan Wilkie double that scored Wright.
Wilkie was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI to lead the home team.
