BEAUFORT - SC – The Augusta University softball team clinched the series victory after posting a 10-1 win over USC Beaufort Saturday morning.
The Jaguars are now 15-18 on the season, including 2-13 in PBC play.
Paige Patterson started the Augusta offense with a bang, hitting a 3 RBI homer in the third at bat of the game.
In the second inning,
Grace Bridges hit a single to left field before stealing second and
Lauren Slade reached on an error. A double from
Bailee Roberts would score both players for a 5-0 AU lead.
A huge fourth inning saw Augusta bat around their entire lineup and score five more runs. Reminiscent of the second inning, Bridges singled and stole second before Slade singled.
Grace Bridges would tack on a run off of an error from the pitcher before
Paige Patterson hit another home run (2 RBI) for an 8-0 lead. Roberts hit a single-run bomb over the fence before
Macy Poisal reached on a fielder's choice to score Naveah Ross.
Augusta would take the 10-0 victory in five innings.
For the game, Bridges and Roberts each had 3 hits.
Paige Patterson led the offense, going 2-for-3 with 5 RBI.
Ansley Gibson (6-4) worked 4.0 innings to pick up the win. She struck out two batters without giving up a single run. Maggie McBayer pitched the final inning for AU.
