AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team recorded a 4-1 Peach Belt Conference victory Tuesday afternoon over No. 45 Young Harris at the Newman Tennis Center to wrap the regular season.
The Jaguars, who are No. 27 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II rankings, improved to 15-8 overall, while the Mountain Lions fell to 10-10, 0-5 PBC.
To start the day,
Elie Azoulay and
Alexis Bailhache grabbed a 6-4 at the No. 2 doubles spot before Quentin Cano and Artur Abyan took their match 6-2.
After dropping the No. 2 singles,
Herick Isago defeated Janis Auslands 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles spot.
Arthur Valette took a 6-6, 6-2 victory before
Elie Azoulay clinched the win for Augusta with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Augusta awaits seeding for the PBC Tournament April 21-23. The tournament will be played in Columbus, Ga at the Walden Tennis Center and will be hosted by Columbus State University.
TOURNAMENT WEBSITE
The final selection by the NCAA for regional play will be at 8 p.m. April 24. Eight teams will be selected in the Southeast region for the national tournament. In the Southeast region, the winners from the Peach Belt Conference, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas tournaments earn automatic berths while the other five will be at-large selections based on the regional rankings.
