AUGUSTA,
Ga – The Augusta University baseball team dropped a high scoring game to West Georgia 11-8 on Tuesday afternoon. Augusta is now 21-21 overall while West Georgia is 28-13.
The Wolves got things moving in the first inning, with a sac fly that scored one run before scoring another in the second inning.
The Jaguars knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning, when
Pat Galvin homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
University of West Georgia pulled away for good with seven runs in the fifth inning. In the bottom of the inning, a double from
Jordan Wilkie and a single from
Rushton Bowles plated three runs.
After a single West Georgia run in the seventh inning, Augusta immediately capitalized on an error to score two runs in the bottom of the inning.
After West Georgia scored one run in the top of the ninth, Augusta answered with one of their own. West Georgia scored off a triple then AU answered when
Parker Ingram singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Brian Trepanier took the loss for Augusta. The righty surrendered three runs on one hit, walking one.
Logan Howell started the game for AU Howell lasted four innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out two. Cody Sheider, Aeden Cates, and
Turner Sircy all saw time on the mound.
The Jags tallied 12 hits.
Jordan Wilkie,
Kyle Lodise, and Ingram all managed multiple hits. Wilkie led AU with four hits in five at bats.
