FRANKLIN SPRINGS,
Ga – The Augusta University baseball team won 9-8 in extra innings against Emmanuel on Wednesday evening. Augusta is now 22-22 overall while Emmanuel is 24-22.
After the Lions took an early lead, Augusta scored its first run in the fourth.
In the fifth inning,
Pat Galvin doubled to score two runs before he scored on a wild pitch for a 4-3 lead. After Galvin singled again in the sixth,
Kyle Lodise scored on an error.
The Lions used a double in the 7
th for two scores that evened the game at 5 before a huge ninth inning say Augusta added three runs. Emmanuel answered with three runs of their own, forcing extra innings.
The game was tied at eight with AU batting in the top of the eleventh when
Jordan Wilkie's sac fly scored the winning run.
Cody Sheider got the win for Augusta. Sheider lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while walking one.
Dominic Canale started the game for the Jags. The lefty lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Augusta collected 12 hits and Emmanuel College had 14.
Pat Galvin,
Parker Ingram,
Kyle Lodise, and
Harrison Aulds all managed multiple hits. Ingram and Galvin led with three hits. The Jags didn't commit a single error in the field.
