AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta's
David Viti was selected to the Peach Belt Conference's Men's Basketball Team of Academic Distinction, presented by Barnes & Noble College, according to a release from conference officials. He is one of only six players named to the list for Peach Belt men's basketball.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
Viti, a guard from Buford, Georgia, is currently working towards his Masters of Arts in Teaching at Augusta. Viti played in all 33 games and averaged 22.4 minutes per game. He averaged 6.1 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game. Viti had a career-high 15 points against Flagler on March 2 and carded 8 rebounds against Georgia College on Feb 4. He had 3 steals in the same game and netted 4 three-pointers at Newberry on Dec 19.
