AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta University volleyball team swept Valdosta State 3-0 in the PBC Gulf South Crossover in their home opener. Augusta is now 7-3 overall. The Jags take on Montevallo and Mississippi College on Saturday Set 16.
GAME 1 vs Valdosta State
Augusta got off to a hot start, taking the first set 25-14. The Blaze battled in the final two sets, but fell 25-22 in the second and 25-21 in the third.
Jazmyn Wheeler led the way with 11 kills and 15 dig to go along with 2 blocks.
Savannah Davis carded a season-high 8 kills on a .444 hitting percentage. Davis also added a match-high 4 blocks.
Sophia Kruczko added 6 kills to the offensive effort.
Dariana Luna anchored the defense with 18 digs. Setter
Janvier Buggs and
Rylie Harris each tallied 11 digs.
Buggs dished 22 assists while
Ally Thees had nine.
Valdosta State was led by Mackenzie Murray's 7 kills.
