SAPPHIRE, NC -The Augusta University men's golf team shot a 3-under 849 to finish fifth at the JT Poston Invitational.
Dawson Booth led AU on the Par 71, 7,007-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
Booth finished the tournament 2-over and tied for 20
th after carding a tournament-low round of 66 on the first day.
Stefan Jacobs turned in an even-par 71 in the final 18 holes to finish tied for 26
th.
Ryan van der Klis used four birdies on the final day to shoot 1-under par and improve six strokes from his Round 2 score. The South Africa native finished tied for 42
nd.
Cole Stevens steadily improved over all three rounds, carding a 76 and 72 on Monday before turning in a 1-under 70 on Tuesday. Along with Stevens,
Dalton Burts also finished tied for 54
th after scoring a 3-over 74 on the final day.
Playing as individuals,
Ian Pienaar and
Dean Wilken finished 64th and tied for 86th. After making an 8-stroke jump from his first round to his second round, Pienaar carded a 1-under 70 in his final round. Wilken turned in a final-round 73.
