Jaguar alumnus Hans Troyer wins USA Track & Field 50 Mile Championship, shatters course record by 12 minutes

Augusta, GAHans Troyer, former Augusta University cross country and track athlete and now a graduate assistant for both programs, won the USA Track & Field 50 Mile Championship this weekend in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. Troyer set a new course record with a time of 5:16:14, surpassing the previous record by nearly 12 minutes. His pace was 6:19 per mile over the 50-mile course, which included 5,000 feet of vertical climb.

RESULTS

Reflecting on the race, Troyer stated, "I have a good history with racing in cool conditions, and since it was gonna be chilly, I was feeling pretty confident. I am super excited with how the race turned out, and I can't wait to continue to train and race for more."

"Really excited for Hans!," said head coach Jacob Burgamy.  "He did great things for us as an athlete, won multiple conference championships, and represented us at XC nationals on three occasions. He's been a huge help to me in his role as graduate assistant coach, and having been his college coach and seeing the work and consistency that he still puts into his training, even while coaching and getting his master's, is truly inspiring. Couldn't be more proud of what he's been able to do on the professional level so far and really excited for what is to come in the future for him."
