Box Score WINGATE, NC – The Augusta University volleyball team (22-8) wrapped its 2024 season with a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Wingate University (30-2) in the NCAA Southeast Regional Semifinals on Saturday. Wingate secured the win with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-20 at Cuddy Arena.
AU closes the year with a 22-8 record and a year that saw the team reach the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament final. The Jags also earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament, marking the program's seventh tournament appearance in school history.
Match Recap:
The Jaguars battled hard throughout the match. Marin Freeland tallied 10 kills on a .308 hitting percentage and added 2 block assists. Mia Saavedra led offensively with 11 kills, 14 digs. Madelyn Eden added 6 kills, hitting .188, and 2 block assists, while Jada Suguturaga posted 3 kills and 3 blocks.
Setter Marah Zenner directed the attack with 19 assists, 4 digs, and a service ace. Libero Rylie Harris anchored the defense with a match-high 14 digs. Defensively, the Jaguars totaled 10 block assists, holding Wingate to a .260 hitting percentage.
