Softball Splits Games in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, NC– The Augusta University softball team split a road doubleheader with Chowan in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. The Jaguars won the first game of the afternoon 4-3 before falling 4-9 in the second game of the day. AU moves to 6-3 overall while Chowan is 1-6.

GAME 1 – Augusta 4 Chowan 3
  • Aliyah Luke opened scoring the first inning with a single down the left field line, advancing to second on the throw and scoring Bobbi Poff.
  • In the second inning, Naveah Ross hit a two-run bomb to move the score to 3-0.
  • Chowan answered in the second, using two singles to notch two runs in the inning.
  • A double from the home team in the fifth inning evened the score at 3-3
  • Poff sealed the 4-3 victory of Augusta in the sixth inning with a home run to center field.
  • Aliyah Luke was 2-for02 with 1 RBI
  • Bailee Roberts, Lauren Evens, Poss, and Ross each carded a hit.
  • Alissa Bolinger pitched all seven innings, allowing ten hits for three runs while striking out three.
GAME 2 – Augusta 4 Chowan 9
  • After Chowan scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, Grace Bridges singled to center field in the second inning to plate Cadence Winder.
  • A bases-loaded walk turned into another run.
  • After the home team added single runs in the third and fifth innings, Aliyah Luke hit a timely single to right center field to score Grace Bridges and Hayden Pearson for a 4-4 score.
  • A huge sixth inning for the home team saw the Hawks score five runs and take the 9-4 victory.
  • Maggie McBrayer got the start for Augusta. Hannah Turner tossed 5.1 innings. Madalyn Spinks also saw time pitching in relief.
The Jaguars will travel to Anderson on Thursday, Feb 15. First pitch is at noon.
