AUGUSTA, Ga - The Augusta University women's basketball team defeated Flagler 73-59 to retain their top spot in the PBC standings. AU improves to 17-6, 11-2 PBC. Flagler falls to 10-13, 5-8 PBC. The Jags host Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Feb 17 in a battle of No. 1 seeds. The winner of the game will have sole possession of the conference No. 1 spot.

The visiting Saints opened scoring with a made three-pointer less than a minute into the game. Veteran
Autumn Phillips answered with a three on the next possession. AU took a 14-12 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter before a five-minute scoring drought for both teams.
Phillips scored seven straight points in the early part of the quarter to give the Jaguars a ten point lead. Augusta would hold a 32-23 at the half. Augusta would lead by as many as 14 points in the third quarter. Flagler made a furious comeback, coming within four, but AU held on to win 73-59 at home.
Alford led the Jaguar scoring with 22 points. Phillips had 21 points as the only other Jaguar in double-figures. She also led the AU rebounding effort with eight boards.
