Jags Hit Four Homers in First Game of Split With Erskine

DUE WEST, SC – Lauren Evens hit two home runs to lead Augusta to split with Erskine on the road Wednesday afternoon. Augusta improves to 8-6 with the win while Erskine falls to 3-11. Augusta welcomes Lander on Friday, Feb. 23 in the PBC opener.
 
Game 1 Augusta 13, Erskine 6
  • Augusta hit four homers and registered 15 hits in the first game of the day
  • Lauren Evens knocked a 3 RBI homer in the first inning before Bobbi Poff homered in the second inning to tack on a fourth run.
  • Paige Patterson followed with a 3-run homer in the third inning that scored Lauren Barrett and Evens. A run off an error by right field gave AU two more scores and brought the score to 9-0.
  • Erskine scored two runs over the next three innings before Evens hit another bomb over the fence for a solo homer and 10-2 score.
  • A bases-loaded home run in the sixth inning gave the home team hope, but Grace Bridges single-scored another run in the final inning. An error from the Flying Fleet gave AU its final two runs of the game.
  • Lauren Evens was stellar, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and 4 runs. Lauren Barrett, Paige Patterson, and Bobbi Poff all had multiple hits in the high-scoring affair.
  • Madelyn Spinks (2-1) got the start and picked up the win for Augusta on the mound. In her 5.0 innings of work, she allowed 9 hits for 2 runs while sitting down 2 batters. Hannah Turner tossed the final two innings.

  • AU got off to another hot start in the second game, scoring two runs off sacrifice ground-outs in the second inning before using two doubles in the third inning to take the score to 4-0.
  • Still in the third inning, Grace Bridges singled up the middle to score Paige Patterson and Lauren Barrett for a 7-0 Jaguar lead.
  • The Flying Fleet changed the pace of the game in the fourth inning, scoring 10 unanswered runs over the next four innings.
  • Lauren Barrett led AU in the game, going 2-of-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI
  • Allissa Bolinger got the start for the Jaguars. After 5.0 innings, Madelyn Spinks (2-2) threw the next 1.1 innings. Maggie McBrayer and Hannah Turner both saw time pitching in relief
