INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Augusta University men's basketball team is ranked in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region, which was released Wednesday afternoon. There will be two more published regional rankings before the national tournament field is released in early March.

Augusta is 13-9 against Division II regional competition and boasts one of the toughest schedules in the region. The Jags are 15-9 overall.

Within the region, the Jaguars are 13-9. The Jags continue to hold fourth place in the Peach Belt Conference. Au looks to return to the NCAA tournament for the 16th time in program history.

There are four teams, including Augusta, ranked from the Peach Belt Conference. From the PBC, Lander, North Georgia, and USC Aiken are all included in the alphabetical listing.

Carson-Newman, Catawba, Lincoln Memorial, and Wingate represent the South Atlantic Conference while Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke represent Conference Carolinas in the ranking.

Augusta's Division II strength of schedule is .561 and its rating percentage index (RPI) is .567.

The national tournament selection criteria are based on in-region winning percentage, D2 winning percentage, D2 strength of schedule, D2 head-to-head competition, and results vs. common D2 opposition.

The NCAA regional rankings are the official rankings used by the committee to select the national tournament field. The field will be comprised of 64 teams and the Southeast Region will have eight teams. The three conference tournament champions (PBC, SAC, and Conference Carolinas) receive an automatic berth to the regional.
