AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta University baseball team blew past USC Aiken 14-4 in eight innings in the first game of the series. Augusta is now 22-17 overall, 11-8 PBC while USC Aiken is 9-31, 5-14 PBC. AU will host the Pacers on Saturday, April 13 at 6:00 pm for the second game of the series.
Kyle LaRoche had a huge game for AU, driving in six runs on four hits to lead the Jags. LaRoche singled in the first to score one run, singled in the fourth for two more scores, and hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
Aiken got on the board in the first inning, scoring two runs. After evening the score in the first inning, a single from 
Kyle Lodise gave AU a 4-2 lead. A 2 RBI single from the Pacers tied the game, but a ground out by 
Nolan Turner in the bottom of the third inning gave the Jags a 5-4 edge. The home team went on to score two runs in the fourth, three in the sixth, and four in the eighth to end the game in eight innings.
Mason Bernard opened the game for Augusta. The sole pitcher for the game gave up seven hits and five runs over his full eight innings of work while striking out six batters.
The Jags accumulated 12 hits in the game. LaRoche was 4-for05 with 6 RBI and two runs. 
Harrison Aulds and Lodise were both 2-for-4 with one RBI and three runs.
