AIKEN, SC - The Augusta men's basketball team had their nine game win streak snapped at the hands of USC Aiken 84-49 Sunday at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C. The Jaguars never led in the contest as they dropped their first game in over a month. AU falls to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Pacers have an identical 9-5 mark with a 3-1 conference record.
John St. Germain III led Augusta with 14 points while
Demitri Gardner tallied 13. They were the only players in double figures.
Maximillian Amadasun led AU with eight rebounds.
Augusta shot just 37% from the field and dug themselves an early 14-4 deficit and were never able to recover. With just over seven minutes left in the half, a
TJ Baker jumper cut the lead to six points, but that was as close as they would get. They would finish the half down 40-23 to the Pacers.
Augusta returns home to Christenberry Fieldhouse Wednesday, Jan. 15, when they take on Flagler College at 7:30 p.m. It is Stuff the Stadium night as fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal and asked to throw it on the court after AU makes their first basket of the game.
