Augusta Athletics Elevates Mason Grounds to Associate AD for Operations

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University Athletics has announced the elevation of Mason Grounds to the role of Associate Athletics Director for Operations.

"Mason has done an exceptional job since arriving in Augusta," said Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher.  "He has elevated our game day experience for all involved, taken on additional responsibilities that have advanced our department, and has worked tirelessly to ensure our programs have what they need to be successful. Mason's service-oriented and team-first approach, combined with his desire to go above and beyond for our programs, will allow for a seamless transition into this new role."

Grounds joined Augusta University as the Assistant Athletics Director for Event Management on May 1, 2023. Before coming to Augusta, he served as Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance and Operations at Clayton State University, where he oversaw strength and conditioning and game-day operations, including personnel management and athletic facility support. He also served as the school's first strength and conditioning coach, a role he began in 2019.

Grounds was named Vice Chairman of the Athletics Performance Committee for the Peach Belt Conference in May 2022. Prior to his time at Clayton State, he worked as a graduate assistant for strength and conditioning at Texas A&M Kingsville. Grounds earned his bachelor's degree in exercise and movement science from Missouri State University in 2018 and his Master of Science in education from Texas A&M-Kingsville in 2020.
