Augusta Sweeps Salem to Advance in PBC Tournament

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Augusta opened postseason play with a convincing 3–0 win over Salem (W.Va.) on Friday afternoon, earning a spot in Saturday's Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals. The Jaguars improved to 25–7 on the year with the 25–9, 25–20, 25–10 victory.

Augusta controlled the opening set from the first serve, siding out at a high clip and generating early separation to take the frame 25–9. Salem responded with a stronger effort in the second, pulling within a point at 18–17 before the Jaguars closed the door with an 7–3 finishing push. The third set belonged entirely to AU; Augusta hit .368 in the final frame and held Salem to just five kills.

Sofiia Snitsarevych powered the offense with an efficient 11 kills on 20 swings (.550) while contributing eight blocks. Lauren Posa added seven kills without an error and nine block assists, helping the Jaguars finish with 26 total blocks — one of their highest single-match totals of the season.

Setter Sydney Harrington distributed 33 assists and added three aces, while Mia Saavedra served four aces and picked up eight digs. Angela Mateos chipped in six kills and seven digs, and Patrycja Kabala was effective off the bench with five kills on eight attempts (.500).

As a team, Augusta hit .283 and limited Salem to just 23 kills on 100 swings (.030). The Jaguars tallied 13 service aces and held a 26–0 advantage in total team blocks and block assists combined.

Augusta continues PBC Tournament play tomorrow at 2 p.m. in St. Augustine.
