WINGATE, N.C. – Augusta volleyball closed its 2025 season Thursday with a 3–1 loss to Anderson in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional at Wingate's Cuddy Arena. The Jaguars finish the year 25–9 after earning their eighth NCAA Tournament berth in program history and securing the 2025 Peach Belt Conference regular season co-championship.
Anderson took the first two sets 25–18 and 25–14 before Augusta responded with a 25–20 win in the third. The Trojans held off a late Augusta push in the fourth to secure the match 25–22.
Lauren Nelson led Augusta with 11 kills on 32 swings and added seven service aces, finishing with a team-high 14.0 points. Layne Witherspoon supplied 10 kills while hitting .421 and recorded four total blocks. Mia Saavedra distributed 18 assists and added eight kills and eight digs, and setter Sydney Harrington finished with 23 assists and four service aces. Sofiia Snitsarevych added eight kills at a .273 clip along with three blocks.
As a team, Augusta hit .216 with 40 kills and 12 total blocks. Anderson posted 57 kills on .294 hitting.
The match caps a highly accomplished season for the Jaguars. Augusta secured the 2025 Peach Belt regular season co-championship. The Jaguars also earned multiple conference honors:
• Giulia Rodrigues – Peach Belt Libero of the Year, PBC All-Conference Second Team
• Sofiia Snitsarevych – Peach Belt Freshman of the Year and PBC All-Conference Second Team
• Lauren Nelson – PBC All-Conference First Team
• Layne Witherspoon – PBC All-Conference First Team
Augusta appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time and reached the postseason for the fourth consecutive year (2021–22–23–25).
