BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Augusta University men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, falling 4-2 to Lynn University at the Perper Tennis Complex.
Augusta started strong in doubles play, securing a win at No. 1 doubles as Alexis Bailhache and Enzo Garutti claimed a dominant 6-2 victory. However, Lynn responded by taking the remaining two doubles matches, with Arthur Valette and David Perret falling 4-6 at No. 2, and Mario Curiel and Humberto Pinto coming up just short, 5-7, at No. 3.
In singles action, Garutti delivered a standout performance at No. 1, earning a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Curiel also picked up a win at No. 6, securing a three-set battle 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Despite Augusta's efforts, Lynn took the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles matches to clinch the win. Bailhache fell 1-6, 1-6 at No. 2, Perret was defeated 4-6, 6-7 at No. 3, and Pinto dropped a three-set match 6-3, 4-6, 3-6 at No. 4.
At No. 5 singles, Artur Valette was leading after two sets when the match was left unfinished.
With the loss, Augusta moves to 2-1 on the season and will look to bounce back as the team travels to take on Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
