Augusta, Ga. - On a day where the Augusta women celebrated the seniors on the team, it was No. 9 North Georgia walking away with a 64-51 win at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars are now 10-6 in Peach Belt Conference play and 18-8 overall. The Nighhawks improve to 14-2 in the PBC and 24-2 overall.
Elyse Autrey led the Jaguars with 13 points with
Mone Florence adding nine and
Je'Bria Fullwood eight points.Â
North Georgia jumped out to a 16-11 lead after the opening quarter and would expand the lead to 11 at halftime.
Augusta made a run to start the third quarter when
Quinasia Abercrombie hit back-to-back baskets and Autrey drilled a three-pointer to cut the lead to just four points. But North Georgia would rattle off 11 straight points and were never challenged again.
For the game, Augusta shot 35% and did hold the Nighthawks to 39% from the field. But North Georgia connected on 20 of 23 from the foul line and out rebounded Augusta for the game.Â
The Jaguars will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Milledgeville, Ga. for a battle with Georgia College.Â
