Jags Split with Emmanuel on the Road

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Augudta softball earned a 5-1 victory in Game 1 before falling 4-1 in Game 2 to split a non-conference doubleheader against Emmanuel on Wednesday afternoon.

In the opener, Augusta (13-8) took control in the fourth inning when Ansley Gibson launched a solo home run to left, breaking a scoreless tie. Moments later, Kelsea Moody doubled and came around to score on a single from Cadance Winder, putting the Jaguars ahead 2-0.

Augusta added to its lead in the fifth as Nevaeh Ross reached on an error and scored on a double from Bobbi Poff. Gibson followed with a run-scoring single to extend the advantage to 4-0. The Jaguars tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Ayellad Howard lined an RBI single to right.

Gibson (5-2) earned the win in the circle, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. Hannah Turner pitched the final three frames, giving up one run on four hits with two strikeouts to secure the victory.

Game 2 saw Augusta struggle to generate offense despite seven hits. Emmanuel took an early lead with a solo home run in the first and added two more runs in the third. The Jaguars got on the board in the fourth when Bailee Roberts singled and scored on an RBI hit from Winder. However, Emmanuel responded with another run in the fifth to seal the game.

Madalyn Spinks (2-2) took the loss, throwing six innings while allowing four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.
