Autumn Phillips from Augusta University women's basketball and Demitri Gardner from Augusta University men's basketball have been named the Georgia's Own Student-Athletes of the Month for January. The Georgia's Own Student-Athlete of the Month Award honors one male and one female Augusta University student-athlete from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.

Autumn Phillips - Women's Basketball
Phillips, a senior from Fairburn, Ga., was a key contributor for the Jaguars throughout January. She averaged 9.3 points per game while shooting 41.5% from the field. Phillips also contributed 4.0 rebounds per game and maintained a strong defensive presence with 2.3 steals per game. Her standout performance came on January 25 against North Georgia, where she scored a season-high 18 points, added 4 rebounds, and recorded 2 blocks. She registered 1,000 career points in the same game. Over six games, Phillips also tallied 3.3 assists per game and showcased her versatility on both ends of the court.

Demitri Gardner - Men's Basketball
Gardner, a junior from Winchester. Va, had an outstanding month, helping lead the Jaguars go 5-1 and rise to the top of the conference standings with his consistent scoring and efficiency. He averaged 25.3 points per game while shooting 56.2% from the field and 86.2% from the free-throw line. Gardner's top performance came on January 4 against Columbus State, where he poured in 28 points, shooting 60% from the field and hitting all nine of his free throws. He also contributed 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1 steal per game. He eclipsed 1,000 career points against Georgia College on January 29.  For his performance so this season, Gardner was named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball.
