Augusta, Ga - For the second time this season, Augusta women's basketball rolled over their across-river rivals, beating USC Aiken 69-44 on Saturday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse. With the win, the Jaguars are now 7-4 in Peach Belt Conference play and 15-6 overall. The Pacers fall to 2-9 in conference and 5-16 overall.
The Jaguars had big second and third quarters, outscoring the Pacers 38-15 and cruising from there.
Nyaneit Puok came off the AU bench and scored a game-high 12 points, with all of her points coming from four three-pointers.
Overall, it was a balanced scoring attack, with eight players scoring at least six points. Quinasia Abercrombie continued her fine play with nine points, and Amari Jackson also added nine. Brianna Meekins dominated the stat sheet with a game-high nine rebounds, as the Jaguars pulled down 44 boards compared to just 28 for USC Aiken.
Augusta shot 39.5% from the field for the game and held the Pacers to 31.4%. The Jaguars also scored 34 points in the paint in the convincing win. Bench scoring was a major factor, with the Jags contributing 33 points compared to just 12 for the Pacers.
