Augusta Women's Tennis Drops Match to No. 6 North Georgia, Set to Host Lenoir-Rhyne

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team battled against No. 6 North Georgia on Sunday but came up short in a 5-2 loss at the Newman Tennis Center.

North Georgia took the doubles point after winning at the top two positions. Andrea Gonzalez and Juliana Martinez fell 3-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Priscilla Landi and Julieta Palma dropped a 2-6 match at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished with Camila Taborga and Giovanna Patrocinio tied at 5-5.

In singles play, Augusta secured two victories. Luciana Bejarano earned a hard-fought win at No. 3 singles, rallying for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory. Patrocinio also delivered a strong performance at No. 6, overcoming an early deficit to claim a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.

North Georgia picked up wins in the remaining singles matches. Gonzalez fell 1-6, 1-6 at No. 1, Martinez was defeated 2-6, 1-6 at No. 2, and Landi dropped a 4-6, 2-6 result at No. 4. Taborga battled at No. 5 but fell in a close 5-7, 4-6 contest.

With the loss, Augusta moves to 7-3 on the season. The Jaguars will look to bounce back as they host Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, March 5, at the Newman Tennis Center.
