AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 38 Augusta University men's tennis team earned a 5-0 sweep over Emmanuel University on Tuesday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center. The Jaguars improve to 10-6 on the season.
Augusta opened the match by securing the doubles point with victories at the top two spots. Alexis Bailhache and Enzo Garutti teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Arthur Valette and David Perret earned a matching 6-3 win at No. 2. Emmanuel took the No. 3 doubles court, with Humberto Pinto and Enzo Sakiyama falling 2-6.
The Jaguars carried their momentum into singles play, winning four straight-set matches before the remaining courts were left unfinished. Bailhache earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2, followed by Perret's 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Pinto added a 6-3, 6-1 result at No. 5, and Sakiyama cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The top two singles matches were left unfinished, with Garutti leading 6-3, 3-4 at No. 1, and Valette trailing slightly after a tight first set, 6-7 (8-10), 4-3 at No. 3.
With the win, Augusta improves to 10-6 on the year and will return to action on Thursday, March 27, when they host the University of Montevallo at 12:00 p.m. at the Newman Tennis Center.
