AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 40 Augusta University men's tennis team secured a 5-2 win over No. 48 Montevallo on Wednesday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center. With the victory, Augusta improves to 11-6 on the season.

After dropping the No. 1 doubles match 3-6, the Jaguars bounced back to take the doubles point. Arthur Valette and David Perret earned a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles, while Humberto Pinto and Enzo Sakiyama cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 3.

In singles action, Augusta picked up four wins. Valette claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3, Perret followed with a 6-4, 6-3 result at No. 4, and Pinto added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5. Sakiyama battled from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 and seal the team win.

Montevallo grabbed victories in the top two singles spots. Enzo Garutti dropped a 6-3, 3-6, 3-6 match at No. 1, while Alexis Bailhache fell 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 at No. 2.

With the win, Augusta moves to 11-6 and is set to host USC Sumter in nonconference action on Sunday, March 30 at Newman Tennis Center.
