Augusta, Ga. -
Jake Vachon and
Zach Kwiatkowski both homered but it was North Georgia picking up the 16-5 win on Friday night at Jaguar Field. D-Bat Evans was on hand to provide fun activities for the kids in attendance in support of AU athletics with both the baseball and softball teams. Augusta is now 8-24 on the year and 5-8 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Nighthawks improve to 22-9 and 11-2 in the conference as they are also in first place in the PBC.
The Nighthawks jumped out to the lead the first two innings and would never be challenged.
The Jaguars got on the board in the third when Vachon blasted a solo homer for their first run of the game.Â
In the sixth, it would be Kwiatkowski also hitting a solo home run.Â
AU did do some damage in the seventh scoring three times.
Mike Morrison singled to lead off the inning and extended his hitting streak to 24 straight games. That was followed by Kwiatkowski's second hit of the night and a
Ty McClintock single.
Aidan Cannaday would come up with a RBI single and then a bases loaded walk to
Ryan Patrick and an infield ground out would plate the last Augusta runs of the game.
Augusta and North Georgia continue the series on Saturday with first pitched scheduled for 3 p.m.Â
