AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday at the Newman Tennis Center, improving to 9-3 on the season.
Augusta claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Enzo Garutti and Alexis Bailhache earned a 7-6 (7-2) victory at No. 1, while the duo of David Perret and Arthur Valette battled to a 7-6 (8-6) win at No. 2. Lenoir-Rhyne took the No. 3 doubles match, with Humberto Pinto and Enzo Sakiyama falling 2-6.
In singles play, Augusta dominated with four victories. Garutti secured a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Perret outlasted his opponent at No. 4 in a three-set battle, winning 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3. Pinto also fought through three sets for a 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4 victory at No. 5, and Sakiyama cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Lenoir-Rhyne picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Bailhache fell in a tight match, 2-6, 7-5, 4-6 at No. 2, while Valette was edged out 3-6, 6-3, 2-6 at No. 3.
