AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University Athletics continues to raise the bar in the classroom, posting a record-breaking 3.35 departmental GPA for the Spring 2025 semester—setting a new high for both semester and year-long academic performance. All NCAA sports programs achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 79% of student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or better this spring. This marks the 18th consecutive semester that the department has achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher.
A total of 41 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2025 semester. In all, 199 student-athletes earned a GPA above 3.0, including 117 who posted a 3.5 or higher. The department recorded a 3.35 GPA across all sports for the spring semester and a 3.34 GPA for the full 2024–25 academic year—both marking the highest on record.
"I am so proud of how hard our student-athletes work towards high achievements not only in their sport but also in the classroom," said Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration Christina Whetsel. "Their academic success not only this semester, but this entire academic year, is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete."
"Our student-athletes continue to impress with their commitment to excelling in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher. "Our teams take tremendous pride in their academic performances and it's great to see their outstanding work being recognized. We are beyond proud of all their efforts and extremely grateful for the leadership they are displaying across campus."
Fourteen of Augusta University's fifteen athletic programs earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrating a department-wide commitment to academic achievement and student-athlete development.
