Cam Pacheco signs with Augusta basketball

State Champion and Virginia Mr. Basketball Camryn Pacheco Joins Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head men's basketball coach Dip Metress announced the signing of freshman guard Camryn Pacheco to the 2025-26 roster.

"We are excited about Cam's versatility for our program," said Metress. "He capped off a great senior season by leading his team to their first state championship. One of Cam's best characteristics is his competitiveness."

Pacheco averaged 25.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game in his senior season while leading Spotswood High School to the VHSL Class 3 State Championship — the program's first boys basketball title in over 30 years. He also averaged a team-high 9.3 deflections per game and shot 51% from the field, 40% from three, and 81% from the free throw line.

A four-year starter and the most decorated player in Spotswood history, Pacheco leaves as the school's all-time leader in assists (564), deflections (873), and recoveries (259), while ranking second in both scoring (1,835 points) and rebounds (610).

He was named Mr. Basketball by the Basketball Coaches Association of Virginia (BCAV) in 2025, in addition to earning BCAV Conference #2 / Shenandoah Valley Player of the Year and VHSL Class 3 State Player of the Year honors. He was a three-time First Team All-State selection, four-time First Team All-Valley District honoree, and three-time Player of the Year in both his district and region.
