Augusta Falls to No. 13 North Georgia in the Conference Tournament

Dahlonega, Ga - In an elimination game, Augusta fell to North Georgia 12-4 Sunday in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and the Jags have their season come to an end. AU finishes the year 13-40 while North Georgia is 38-14 and remain alive in the post season. A nine run fourth led the undoing of Augusta.

The game started well for the Jaguars as Aidan Cannaday connected on a two-run homer in the opening inning. Nolan Turner singled to lead off the game and then two batters later it was Cannaday going deep to right staking the Jags to the lead.

It would stay that way until the fourth when the Nighthawks did their damage. They got a homer to start the inning and had six hits in the frame. The also benefited from a couple of miscues and walks to plate the nine runs.

Augusta would get their final two runs in the seventh inning. Rushton Bowles walked and then went to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Ty McClintock homered to put the two runs on the board. As a team, Augusta led the conference with 59 home runs for the season.

North Georgia would score two more in the eighth inning for the final score.

The Jaguars had five hits on the game with Bowles collecting two of them.

On Friday, Augusta shocked the Nighhawks but could not come up with the upset win to keep their season alive.
