AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta men's basketball graduate student Evan Joyner has been named to the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction, presented by Barnes & Noble College. He is one of 15 student-athletes across the league to earn the honor.
Joyner, a Greensboro, N.C. native, is pursuing a Master of Public Administration and holds a 3.50 cumulative GPA. The recognition highlights both his academic success and his on-court contributions during the 2024-25 season.
As a graduate student, Joyner played in 27 of Augusta's 30 games and started 15. He averaged 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game—ranking second on the team in rebounding. He shot 14-of-38 from three-point range and logged at least 27 minutes in nine of the final 12 games of the season. Notable performances included an 18-point outing against USC Beaufort, seven rebounds and five blocks versus Flagler, and an 8-for-11 performance at the free throw line against USC Beaufort.
To be eligible for the Team of Academic Distinction, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution while reaching sophomore athletic eligibility. The program is administered by the PBC's sports information directors and aims to celebrate the academic accomplishments of student-athletes across the conference.
