Augusta Men's Golf Opens Play at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate

Knoxville, Tn. - In their first event of the fall season, the Augusta men's golf team opened play with a score of 9-over-par at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Course on Friday. Host Tennessee leads the event followed by Charlotte and Georgia Tech. Behn Heyns was low Jaguar after shooting a 1-under-par 69.

Live scoring

Heyns started his round with a pair of pars before rolling home two birdies. He did make one bogey and made the turn with a 33. His second nine featured two more birdies and a pair of bogeys for his final score of the day. 

In his first tournament with AU, Benjamin Lübker shot a 2-over-par 72. Lübker started the day slowly with two straight bogeys to begin the round. He would make the turn after shooting a 37. He did rally on the back nine with three birdies but also had two more bogeys. 

Senior Stefan Jacobs also registered a 72. Jacobs made birdies on no. 4 and no. 9 but also had a bogey on the front nine. He would make a birdie, bogey and double bogey over his final nine holes. 

Pieter Rossouw Jr. had the other counting score on the day with a 76. Rossouw birdied the first hole but had a roller coaster next eight holes and finished with a 38. He would duplicate that score on his final nine holes of the day. 

The other score in the opening round would be turned in by Bo Blanchard II. Blanchard also carded a 76. He did make a pair of birdies on the front nine but several bogeys and a double bogey derailed his round. He would add one more birdie on the back nine, but also three bogeys. 

Augusta will start their second round with Heyns teeing off at 10:47 a.m. on Saturday before wrapping up play on Sunday.
