LAKELAND, Fl. – Augusta volleyball OPENED the 2025 campaign with a pair of wins on Friday at the Jet's Pizza FSC Volleyball Classic inside George W. Jenkins Field House. The Jaguars defeated Saint Leo 3–1 in the morning and followed with a four-set win over Hillsdale in the afternoon to finish the opening day 2–0.

In the opener, Augusta battled past Saint Leo by scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 26-24. The Jaguars hit .158 while limiting the Lions to .077 and held advantages in blocks (12-6) and aces (11-11) while edging digs 64-66. Mia Saavedra and Layne Witherspoon each tallied 15 kills, with Saavedra adding 10 digs, three aces, and four blocks. Witherspoon hit .444 with three aces and three blocks, while Sofiia Snitsarevych chipped in eight kills and seven total blocks. Sydney Harrington finished with 33 assists and 11 digs, and libero Giulia Rodrigues collected 19 digs.

Augusta returned in the afternoon and outlasted Hillsdale 25-22, 29-27, 17-25, 25-21. The Jaguars posted a .205 hitting percentage with 52 kills, 14.0 team blocks, and 86 digs. Witherspoon led the way with 14 kills on .481 hitting, while Saavedra contributed 13 kills and 10 digs. Lauren Nelson added 11 kills, Angela Mateos finished with eight kills and six blocks, and Snitsarevych notched five kills and seven blocks. Harrington guided the offense with 39 assists, and Rodrigues steadied the backcourt with 25 digs.

The Jaguars claimed the first two sets against Hillsdale, including a marathon second frame, before closing the match with a .400 hitting clip in the fourth.
