Greenwood, S.C. - After leading by as many as 17 points midway through the third quarter, the Augusta University women scored just four points in the final quarter and fell to Lander 66-65 at Horne Arena on Saturday. The Bearcats hit two free throws with :04 seconds left for the winning margin. The Jaguars are now 5-3 in Peach Belt Conference play and 9-5 overall. The Bearcats improve to 2-5 in conference and 4-10 overall.

Quinasia Abercrombie registered a double-double in the first half and finished with a game high18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Jaguars. 

AU led by 12 entering the fourth quarter but went just 2 of 11 from the field and were outscored 17-4. Lander trailed by one with under 10 seconds left and came up with a steal and was fouled. The Bearcats hit the two free throws giving them the lead. One final shot by the Jaguars was off the mark giving the Bearcats the win.

For the game, Augusta shot 47% to Lander's 39%. The Bearcats did hit six three pointers and forced 23 AU turnovers. 

Abercrombie's double-double is her third of the season. Amari Jackson added 15 points and Sa'Niah Dorsey tallied 14 for the Jaguars. Nadiyah Byard grabbed seven rebounds, second most to Abercrombie for AU.  

Quadaija Langley had 22 points, including the game winning free throws to lead Lander.

Augusta will return to Christenberry Fieldhouse on Wednesday night when they host USC Aiken at 5;30 p.m. It is also Paint It Blue night as fans are encouraged to wear blue. Everyone in attendance will receive a rally towel while the first 300 students will receive a free t-shirt.
