Augusta Athletics Announces Partnership with Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Nov. 5, 2026) – Augusta University Athletics has announced its first formal partnership with Wellstar Health System and Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia to support youth programs, family activities and community outreach through Jaguar Athletics.

The partnership builds on the longstanding relationship between Augusta University and Wellstar, with a focus on serving children and families throughout the Central Savannah River Area. It will connect hospital patients and families with Augusta's teams while providing more opportunities for young fans to take part in Jaguar Athletics.

"Wellstar has been an outstanding, valued partner of Augusta University Athletics for many years, and we're excited to build on that longstanding relationship through this new venture with Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia and the Junior Jaguars Club," said Director of Athletics Brent McMillian. "This partnership represents an exciting opportunity to bring together two organizations that share a deep commitment to serving our community, creating meaningful experiences, and making a lasting impact on the lives of families throughout the CSRA."

Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia will present the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia Junior Jaguar Club and establish the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia Kids' Zone at Augusta University athletic events. The Kids' Zone will provide a dedicated space for children to enjoy activities before and during competitions, adding to the game-day experience for families.

"Children thrive when they are surrounded by a community that supports and inspires them. Through this partnership with Augusta University Athletics, we can create special experiences that bring joy to our patients and families while encouraging healthy, active lifestyles. We are excited to work alongside Augusta Athletics to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children throughout our region," said Dr. Valera Hudson, pediatrician-in-chief of Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia.

The partnership will also include hospital visits by Augusta student-athletes, along with complimentary tickets for patients and their families to attend Jaguar home competitions. These opportunities will allow children to get to know the student-athletes they cheer for and give Augusta's teams another way to serve their community.

Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia will also sponsor Youth Day, featuring a youth jersey giveaway for the first 500 children ages 12 and younger. The partnership will support Augusta's annual Teddy Bear Toss, with donated stuffed animals benefiting the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia and other local charity organizations.

The hospital will also share pediatric health and wellness information during the annual Education Game for Richmond and Columbia County fifth graders and through educational opportunities at Augusta athletic events.
