Augusta, Ga. - The Augusta women never led and fell to North Georgia 76-65 Wednesday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars finish the regular season 10-5 in the Peach Belt Conference and 18-9 overall. The Nighthawks are 13-6 in the conference and 18-11 overall.
Quinasia Abercrombie led the Jaguars with 24 points and four rebounds.
Amari Jackson added 17 points and nine rebounds.Â
North Georgia jumped out to a 10 point lead after the opening quarter and had a 38-27 lead at the half.
In the fourth quarter, the AU women got within a point on an Abercrombie bucket with just over six minutes to play. But the Nighthawks outscored the Jags 20-8 to pull away at the end.Â
AU went just 1-12 from three point range while North Georgia hit 6 of 19 from deep. Averie Jones poured in 22 to lead the Nighthawks.
Chloe Ross had eight points for AU before fouling out.
Sa'Niah Dorsey added seven points.Â
North Georgia out rebounded Augusta 41-40.Â
Despite the loss, Augusta will host a first round Peach Belt Conference tournament game on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.Â
