ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Augusta dropped a 3-1 decision on Sunday at Flagler Field.
The Jaguars totaled six hits and kept pace offensively, but a three-run third inning by the Saints proved to be the difference.
Augusta broke through in the third when Kristyn Ezzo doubled down the left field line and later scored on an RBI groundout from Chesney Miles to even the game at 1-1.
Flagler answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run home run from Kiley McQuillan to take a 3-1 lead they would not give up, moving the Jags to 6-3 in conference play.
Sam Tener led the Jaguars at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance, while Sydney Gilbert and Nevaeh Ross each added a hit.
In the circle, Ezzo (3-5) took the loss, allowing three runs in 2.2 innings, while Ansley Gibson provided strong relief with 3.1 scoreless innings to keep Augusta within reach.
