DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 37 Augusta University men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to No. 14 North Georgia on Wednesday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
North Georgia claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Alejandro Carbonell and Humberto Pinto fell 6-4, while Tommy Matsumine and Arthur Valette dropped a 6-2 decision. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Alexis Bailhache and David Perret was left unfinished.
In singles play, Augusta picked up three points in a tightly contested match. Alexis Bailhache earned a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory, while David Perret secured a 6-2, 7-5 win.
Arthur Valette battled through a four-set match to earn a 6-0, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory.
Alejandro Carbonell pushed his match to three sets before falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Enzo Sakiyama also went three sets but came up short 6-0, 2-6, 2-6. Humberto Pinto fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, as North Georgia secured the team victory.
Augusta moves to 6-8 overall and 0-2 in Peach Belt Conference play.
